Eye Wrinkles: What Causes Wrinkles Around Your Eyes?

Have you ever wondered what causes wrinkles around your eyes?
Isn’t it a surprise that so much attention is focused upon such a small area of your face. Eye wrinkles appear in two different forms. The ones that you see under your eyes and the ones around your eyes, sometimes called crows feet. So what causes these wrinkles around your eyes?
There are many reasons for these wrinkles developing and not surprisingly many of them are developing without you ever seeing them. For this reason, it is best to think about preventing them as early as possible.
The most destructive effect to your eye wrinkles is caused by sunlight. Whilst this isn’t actually avoidable, and because when you’re young you aren’t aware how seriously you’ll develop wrinkles from the sun, you tend to make little effort to reduce this effect. In fact, most young women today, positively adore the sun and spend many hours tending their tans including their facial tan. No matter your age, you can start using sun block to help stop any further wrinkles from developing and help stop your current wrinkles from becoming worse.
When the sun is bright and you aren’t wearing sunglasses, chances are you’re squinting against the light. Squinting causes wrinkles around your eyes. Remember to wear your sunglasses to help prevent this. If you squint because of any underlying medical condition you will still develop wrinkles so take proper action to stop squinting whenever possible.
If your skin isn’t fully hydrated. it can develop wrinkles. Consider using a wrinkle cream containing antioxidants and if you’re able, start doing so when you are young. You can never start prevention too early.
Stress can also contribute to eye wrinkles. Your stress may be the result of smoking, lack of sleep or minimal sleep, or from just having a hectic lifestyle and we do tend to squint and rub our eyes when we’re stressed out. By reducing your stress levels, you can decrease those eye wrinkles also.
Your diet also plays a part in eye wrinkles. Studies have shown that, while too much sugar is unhealthy for your waistline, it can also leave your skin wrinkled and dull. Too much sugar in your diet can damage your collagen, so take a look at this if you want to decrease or eliminate your eye wrinkles.
Just because sugar is unhealthy for your skin it doesn’t mean it’s your skin’s only enemy. If you eat a lot of fast food or processed foods your skin lacks the nutrients it needs, so consider eating more fresh vegetables and fruits. Fresh vegetables and fruit provide the needed antioxidants, which aren’t found in fast or processed foods. The antioxidants help neutralise the free radicals, decreasing the wrinkles both around your eyes as well as your entire face.
And let’s not forget the whole aging process, which also contributes to laughter lines and crows feet. As you get older, your skin becomes less firm. You can help maintain your skins firmness, as well as the eye area, by using a quality eye cream.
Eye wrinkles don’t have to be the result of aging. In order to reduce the wrinkles, you need to take the first early steps of taking good care of your skin when you are young. And, if you are older and you didn’t take these early steps, don’t worry, there are lots of things you can do to help reduce those fine lines and crows feet.
